Surface Culprits

Poverty, alcoholism, molestation, lack of parental knowledge and life skills are results of colonization.
       - These are the common elements experts site. And are the reality of many impoverished Aboriginals around the world. 

Hidden History

Mostly, aboriginal parents today, grew up in a damaged and shamed culture. The government made cultural ceremonies such as Pot Latches and Pow-wows illegal, banned the use of Native Languages and forced the removal of children as young as 4 or 5  years old to be placed in residential schools often under the pretense of educating for the betterment and training for the workforce.

The Residential School effectively eliminated the experience of family nurture, culture and parenting for hundreds of thousands of today's parents.


10 Decades
These schools ran from the 1880's to 1980.
for TEN decades children as young as 4 and 5 were "torn [sic] from the embrace of their parents"
